Liverpool’s life in the Premier League between 2010 and 2012 is not fondly remembered by the Anfield faithful.
Roy Hodgson was initially in charge during that period, but it only lasted six months and the Reds were struggling.
Kenny Dalglish then returned for another season in the dugout, but the top flight finals in sixth and eighth place in 2011 and 2012, respectively, saw the Liverpool legend relieved of his duty late in the period.
Of course, Dalglish guided the Reds to a League Cup victory in 2012, but it was ultimately not enough for a club with high ambitions.
Yet positively in that time Liverpool beat Chelsea four times between November 2010 and May 2012, the most consecutive victories the Reds have recorded over the London side in Premier League history.

Liverpool travel to Stamford Bridge on Sunday as English champions after a certain Jurgen Klopp has planned an incredible upturn in form since his arrival in 2015 and guided the Reds to victory in several major trophies, including the Champions League.
His next duel against Chelsea is a delightful prospect with the fierce rivalry and big moves that Frank Lampard’s team has made in the market this year, along with the desperation of all top flight teams to bring down Liverpool.
Klopp will therefore look to repeat the four consecutive victories recorded by Hodgson and Dalglish with Chelsea having lost each of their last three Premier League meetings with Liverpool.
Interestingly, however, only Liverpool itself (22) have won more Premier League matches against the reigning champions than Chelsea (15th level with Manchester United); in fact, the London Blues are unbeaten in their last 13 home league games against the team that won the previous season’s title (7 wins, 6 draws), winning each of their last three in a row.
Meanwhile, after winning just one of their first 16 Premier League visits to Stamford Bridge between 1992-93 and 2007-08 (D4 L11), Liverpool have won six of their last 12 league matches at Chelsea (D3 L3) , including three. out of five under Klopp (D1 L1).
And finally, excluding a season’s opening day matches, this will be Liverpool’s first Premier League match against a team that starts the day above them in the league table since October 2018, a 0- draw. 0 against Manchester City.
