Public Works Department Headquarters Staff with Travel History Positive for Covid-19

COVID-19 | The Department of Public Works has confirmed that one of its staff members who recently visited Parliament and Kuching, Sarawak, tested positive for Covid-19.

In a statement, the department released details of the staff member’s movements between September 7 and 16 before he was sent to Sungai Buloh Hospital for treatment.

The staff member was in Parliament on September 10 for a meeting and then attended another meeting at the Ministry of Public Works.

On September 14, the staff member went to Kuching and spent two nights at the Hilton Hotel.

At Kuching airport, the staff member was randomly tested for Covid-19.

After this, the Kuching hospital informed the person on September 16 that he was positive for Covid-19.

Upon his arrival at KLIA, he was taken to Sungai Buloh Hospital.

The department said it had provided a list of close contacts to the Health Ministry.

“Close contacts of the staff will be subject to health examinations and home quarantine,” he said.

Meanwhile, according to China Press, a photographer from Kedah’s information department has confirmed positive for Covid-19.

The report said the photographer was suspected of contracting the virus from his superior, whose wife is a member of the Kedah Medical Center staff.

The report further said that the photographer’s last performance he attended was on September 14, which was also attended by Kedah MB Sanusi Md Nor and a few other excos.

According to the report, Sanusi canceled a press conference scheduled for today after being notified by the authority, and the state health department also urged media personnel who covered the previous event to take a test.
