KOTA KINABALU: Sabah’s main opposition alliance came together to launch its manifesto, collectively committing to deliver nine points, including the resolution of the sensitive issue of state rights under the 1963 Malaysia Agreement (MA63).
The nine points of Aku Janji’s commitment are infrastructure, economy, employment, civil service, health, prosperity, education and human capital, security and development of youth and women.
Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin released the manifesto promising the overall delivery of socio-economic development, infrastructure and prosperity, among others, for people in the state who were still lagging behind others in the nation.
“We will create a clean and fair leadership,” he said yesterday at the launch attended by all the leaders of the state party of Perikatan Nasional, Sabah Barisan Nasional and Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS).
All three organizations belong to the newly formed Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) bloc.
Sabah Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia President Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor (for Sabah Perikatan), Sabah Barisan President Datuk Bung Moktar Radin, and PBS Vice President Datuk Radin Malleh signed the pledge before handing it over to Muhyiddin.
His promise to Aku Janji is to keep promises to the people if they win the 16th state election on September 26.
Muhyiddin said that state elections were taking place at unprecedented times when the nation was facing the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Extraordinary measures are needed to manage and help people.
“That is why we need to have this Aku Janji so that everyone can benefit from what we have to offer,” he said.
However, Muhyiddin said the state government must be politically aligned with the federal government to allow specific measures and development programs to reach the people.
“The state and federal government must work together to make this a reality,” he said.
Bung Moktar said that with Aku Janji’s commitment, Barisan had already rejuvenated the pact and it was a necessary move to live up to people’s expectations.
“If the party does not change, the people will change it.
“We want to inform Sabahans that we will fulfill 100% of the promises, we are not like Warisan Plus,” he said.
Bung Moktar said that they will present the people with a better government that will protect the rights of the state, develop and improve the economy, introduce a plan that will change the rules of the game for Sabah, improve people’s livelihoods, protect their land and will not compromise on anything. external claims on Sabah.
Hajiji said the manifesto was the opposition’s five-year roadmap to develop Sabah and address the economic consequences of Covid-19.
“This cannot be implemented in one or two years, but as long as we are given the mandate, we will deliver on all promises,” he said, adding that development plans such as infrastructure would take longer.
He also viewed his Aku Janji engagement as a special manifesto to address rakyat issues as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.
