BUKIT MERTAJAM: A special officer for a politician was arrested here on Tuesday night (September 15) for making a false police report.

The suspect was arrested with his brother after admitting that they falsely claimed that two men had robbed him, allegedly losing RM 60,000 in the process.

It was learned that the 29-year-old suspect made a police report on Saturday (September 12) saying that he and his brother were driving in a car along Jalan Permatang Batu in Permatang Pauh at around 3.30pm.

According to the facts of the case, the 20-year-old brother was driving and had to use the emergency brake when the left door of the car was crushed by two men on a motorcycle.

Then one of the thieves snatched a bag containing RM60,000 in cash and various work-related documents from the assistant’s lap.

The suspect, in his police report, claimed that he attempted to retrieve the bag, but suffered cuts during the process.

During the initial police investigation, the suspect admitted that they had decided to make a false report because he wanted to help his brother after “a certain individual” had threatened to release pornographic photos of the brother.

Central Seberang Prai OCPD Asst Comm Shafee Abd Samad confirmed the arrest and said an investigation is underway.

“Both suspects will be brought to court soon for pretrial detention,” he said when contacted on Wednesday (September 16).
