Covid-19 cases surpass 10,000 mark, 60 more detected in Sabah

PUTRAJAYA: The Ministry of Health reported 62 new cases of Covid-19 today, of which 60 were detected in Sabah.

The remaining two cases were found in Penang and Kedah.

The new infections bring the total number of cases to 10,031, Chief Health Officer Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a statement.

Today 26 patients were discharged, bringing the total number of recoveries to 9,235.

There were 668 active cases, he said, with 15 patients treated in the Intensive Care Unit.

The death toll remains at 128 as no new deaths were reported today.

Covid-19 cases in Sabah

As of 12 noon today, 1,531 people were tested in Lahad Datu, resulting in the detection of 48 new cases, 20 of which are foreigners. Four of the new cases are medical personnel from Lahad Datu Hospital.

So far, 1,306 people have tested negative and 84 people are waiting for the results.

As for Tawau, the Ministry of Health has sampled 5,616 people and a total of 331 positive cases were reported.

So far, 2,764 people in Tawau have tested negative while another 2,621 are awaiting the results.

Clusters of islands and rivers

A new case was reported in each of the Sungai and Pulau conglomerates.

Pulau’s group in Penang now has 10 cases with nine cases involving Malaysians and a foreigner.

Another 166 people are still waiting for the results.

The Sungai group in Kedah now has 58 cases. So far, 17,814 have tested negative and 1,776 are awaiting results.

In Perlis, a case has been reported after 25 people were given medical swabs. Six are waiting for the results, while the rest tested negative.
