Along with the new Apple Watch Series 6, fourth-generation iPad Air, and eighth-generation iPad, Apple has also introduced the new Apple Watch SE during their Time Flies launch event earlier today. At a glance, the smartwatch may appear identical to its high-end sibling, but there are several factors that separate them.

Let’s start with what the SE model is missing. Compared to the 6 Series, it does not come with Retina Always-On display and U1 Ultra-Wideband chip, as well as blood oxygen and ECG sensors. Internally, it is powered by the S5 dual-core chip, which is the same chip that was equipped in last year’s 5 Series versions.

While the smartwatch is still obtainable with a 40mm and 44mm case along with separate GPS and cell options as well as Nike co-branded variants, the SE is only available with an aluminum body. The new blue and (PRODUCT) RED color scheme options are also not available on the SE.

Aside from these main differences we mentioned earlier, the SE can still perform many of the same functions in the 6 Series but at a much lower price. In Malaysia, the price of GPS SE with 40mm body starts at RM 1199 while the cellular variant goes from RM 1449 ahead.

Similarly, the 44mm version has a starting price of RM 1349 and RM 1599, respectively. However, the Apple Watch SE launch date in Malaysia will only be revealed at a later date.
