Arrested woman in handcuffs gives police slip, jumps on boyfriend’s m-bike to escape

KUANTAN (Bernama): A detainee escaped from police custody when she got on a motorcycle that was waiting for her at the Raub Court compound, some 165 km from here, on Monday (September 14).

Raub District Police Chief Superintendent Kama Azural Mohamed said that in the 4:30 p.m. incident, 23-year-old suspect Saidatina Aida Sahabudin was about to get into a police truck after a procedure judicial, when she got on the motorcycle that her boyfriend is believed to be driving.

Saidatina, whose last known address is Kampung Ulu Lepar Dong in Raub, had previously pleaded not guilty to a drug-related charge; she has four prior drug convictions.

“A man riding a Yamaha LC motorcycle with registration number DBQ 8005 is said to have stopped next to the suspicious woman in handcuffs and fled shortly after she got into the passenger seat.

“The policeman on duty chased him and managed to grab the motorcycle. However, he fell and injured himself,” he said in a statement here on Tuesday (September 15).

Supt Kama added that from the preliminary investigation, the police identified the male suspect and that he is from Kampung Pulau Kabong Budu, Benta, Lipis.

He said that efforts to track down the two suspects are intensifying and those with information are urged to contact the nearest police station. – Bernama
