PKR chief information officer Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin says the Electoral Commission should rule on the matter.

PETALING JAYA: PKR Chief Information Officer Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin has challenged Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin to show evidence of the registration status of Perikatan Nasional after the coalition could not be found on the Companies Registry website (RoS).

If it was true that the PN was not yet officially registered, he said that the Electoral Commission (EC) should take immediate action by canceling the candidacies of all those competing with the coalition’s candidacy in the Sabah state elections.

“Elections are an important platform for people to exercise their rights as citizens. They have the right to elect candidates from parties that are legal in accordance with the law.

“If candidates representing an illegal organization are allowed to participate, it will be an insult to the system of parliamentary democracy in Malaysia and also to the people of Sabah,” he said in a statement today.

PN will contest 29 seats in the Sabah state elections, represented by its component parties PPBM, STAR and SAPP.
