PETALING JAYA: Spouses and children of Malaysian citizens other than Malaysia can now apply for permission to enter the country without a long-term pass.
However, this is only applicable to those from countries that are not yet prohibited from entering Malaysia.
“This is in accordance with the decision taken by the government that had been announced by the chief minister (Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob) on August 25.
“However, they are still obliged to apply for the pass after going through the mandatory quarantine period that has been established by the Ministry of Health,” said Director General of Immigration Datuk Khairul Dzaimee Daud in a statement on Monday (14 of September).
All applicants should submit their applications by email to [email protected], he added.
Guidelines for the application process are available at www.imi.gov.my.
The application will then be processed and then deliberated by a task force before permission is granted, according to Khairul.
“The department advises all foreigners and Malaysians to always obey the rules and instructions, as well as to stay up-to-date on the latest announcements from government agencies.
“Strict action will be taken against those who do not adhere to SOPs (standard operating procedures),” he said.
