Former Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness says Liverpool and Manchester United are trying to “blackmail” the German champions into selling Thiago Alcantara.

Several reports in recent months have claimed Jurgen KloppThe team is interested in the Spanish midfielder.

After speculation about a first offer Of the Reds emerged, Klopp admitted that he couldn’t finish that talk. And while he expressed his admiration for the player, he insisted that nothing had come up on the transfer front.

The uncertainty about Thiago’s future comes after he made a drastic U-turn in a new deal with Bayern. Now he reportedly has an initial agreement in place to move to Anfield.

Talking to Sport1Hoeness reiterated that Bayern have not received any official contact from any club regarding Thiago. However, he tipped Liverpool to make a covert offer towards the end of the transfer window.

“It’s a tough situation,” Hoeness said. “Some time ago we agreed on a new four-year contract. A few days later he said: ‘I’m looking for a new challenge.’ Which is totally fine.

“I think you obviously have an agreement with Liverpool or Manchester United or both. Now both clubs are bragging and no one has officially contacted Bayern Munich.

“From my point of view, that has no style. They are trying to blackmail us, waiting until the last week, when they will make a cheap offer.

“In that case, FC Bayern have to ask themselves the question: do they want to continue with that or do they tell the player that he has to stay?

“It will be three hot weeks until [the transfer window closes on] October 5th “.
