TAMPARULI: PBS Secretary General Jahid Jahim said the party is impressed with Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin’s approach, as he has always prioritized looking out for the well-being of the people.

He said that the country’s fight against the Covid-19 pandemic demonstrated that Muhyiddin was committed to helping all segments of society and that no quarter escaped his attention.

“That is why we do not hesitate to support him, and more so with the creation of a new ministry to protect the well-being of Sabah and Sarawak, particularly in relation to the Malaysia Agreement (MA63),” he said here today.

Jahid said this when asked to comment on Muhyiddin’s announcement yesterday that Perikatan Nasional (PN), Barisan Nasional (BN) and PBS in Sabah had teamed up as Gabungan Rakyat Sabah to face the state elections on September 26.

Muhyiddin, who is also PN president, made the announcement while speaking at a meeting with the PN candidate in Sulaman, Sabah PPBM chief Hajiji Noor, in Tuaran.

According to Jahid, in Gabungan Rakyat Sabah, the three entities enjoy the same status in all matters.

Yesterday, Muhyiddin spent nearly an hour visiting the city of Tuaran, where he met merchants at the public and fish markets.

In the elections, Jahid defends the Tamparuli seat in a four-way fight with PKR’s Alijus Sipil, Parti Cinta Sabah’s Denis George Kian Fah and LDP’s Raymond Alfred.
