Jurgen Klopp insists that he will never take Mohamed Salah’s scoring record for granted.

The Egyptian has accumulated a host of individual honors and made history during his first three seasons at Liverpool as a result of scoring an incredible 94 goals in 153 appearances.

On Saturday against Leeds United at Anfield, Salah will become the first red player in history, and only the second player in Premier League history, to score in four consecutive league openers.

Speaking of the exploits of No. 11, Klopp said in his pre-match press conference: “I’m really surprised there is another record that I can break. I thought I had already broken all of them.

“You are absolutely right: it is incredibly important, it was incredibly important to our development.

“I think with the way we played we could also help him with the things we did on and off the court. But we did it to everyone and not everyone would use it in the same way that he took advantage of opportunities. Absolutely amazing.

“People are like that, not just us, but practically everyone, if things are exceptional, even we take them for granted. That didn’t happen to me, to be honest, but I get it and that’s pretty special.

“On the other hand, it’s the same for him. He didn’t score goals just in a normal frame of mind, he had to put himself in a special frame of mind and this special frame of mind that we need.

“This aggression, this desire, all these things, that’s what made him the player he is, he became in the last few years. Let him continue.

“That’s what we need on Saturday, not just him, Sadio, Bobby, all these guys that are coming in and all these kinds of things. That will be really important.”
