SIBU, September 9: A 13-year-old boy who dropped out of school was among five people arrested by the police for allegedly being involved in a riot in Jalan Tong Sang here at 4.55pm yesterday (September 8).

Sibu Police Chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said the suspects, who included a teenage girl and four men between the ages of 24 and 27, were believed to be intoxicated during the incident.

He said the police investigation found that a fight broke out between the men suspected after an altercation between two of them.

“Two of the suspected men were lying on the road when police arrived at the scene after being alerted by members of the public.

“One of them suffered injuries to the face, neck and upper left limb, while the other suffered injuries to the forehead and right forearm,” he said in a statement today.

Stanley added that the injured suspects were later taken to Sibu Hospital.

Police also confiscated a wooden stick used by one of the suspects during the fight.

All of the suspects were detained for four days from today, and the case is being investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code.
