The Ministry of Health conducts a Covid-19 assessment on close contacts of the Sungai cluster in Langkawi

LANGKAWI: Langkawi District Health Office staff identified and tested close contacts for Covid-19 from a positive case from the Sungai Cluster that was on the island last week.

Langkawi District Health Official Dr. Mohd Lutpiyudin Azidin said the investigation found that the individual was in Langkawi on Saturday 5 September and left the next day (Sunday 6 September).

“Starting at 10 am today, Langkawi District Health Office staff went to 14 places that had been visited by the Covid-19 positive person, such as restaurants, accommodations, and tourist attractions.

“We have asked close contacts at risk from the 14 locations to come and undergo the Covid-19 screening test that takes place starting at 2 pm at the Kuah Health Clinic,” he said when contacted, today.

Commenting further, Dr. Mohd Lutpiyudin advised the public to continue to adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs) to curb the spread of Covid-19.

“I ask the public not to panic, to continue to adhere to SOPs like maintaining physical detachment. The owners of commercial premises, hotels, etc. they should ensure that visitor logs are taken to facilitate contact tracking, ”he said.
