KUCHING (September 8): A total of 16 police reports have been filed in the state against Pasir Puteh’s MP, Dr. Wan Muhammad Zawawi Nik Salleh, for his comments in Parliament on August 26 against the Bible.

The state head of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) SAC, Denis Leong, said that the complainants were from various sectors, particularly Christians.

“The police are investigating all these reports. The investigation is still incomplete as some more necessary steps are required, ”he said today in a press release.

“Once the investigation is completed, it will only be sent to the prosecutor for guidance,” he added.

Leong urged the public to remain calm and avoid breaking the law.

He also advised them to refrain from making statements that could incite racial hatred verbally or on social media and that the police would not hesitate to take action against such lawbreakers.

Nik Muhammad Zawawi made the offensive comments in Parliament claiming that the Bible was distorted when debating the 2020 Road Transport (Amendment) Bill.
