BACHOK: The Ministry of Communications and Multimedia plans to impose a 20 sen charge for purchases costing between RM200 and RM1,000 on online platforms such as Lazada and Shopee.

His deputy minister, Zahidi Zainul Abidin, said it was a measure to raise funds to help the B40 group, as well as to improve the telecommunications infrastructure in rural areas.

“We are discussing plans to find alternative resources that do not burden people. We also want to give them the best services, ”he told reporters after attending the Kelantan level. [email protected] program in Pengkalan Petah here today.

“So the 20 sen will be like a service charge. If the purchase exceeds RM 1,000, an additional 20 sen will be charged for a total of 40 sen. “

He said that no charge will be imposed for purchases that cost less than RM200.
