YouTuber Pavithra Sends Official Letter To Drop Case Against Her Husband

IPOH (Bernama): On Tuesday (September 8) the Court of Sessions here was told that the prosecution had received an official letter from YouTuber S. Pavithra to drop the charge made against her husband M. Sugu.

Deputy Prosecutor Naidatul Athirah Azman said that the letter was received on September 4, but that the Director of the State Prosecutor’s Office has not yet made a decision on whether to proceed with the case or not.

Sugu, 29, a former farm worker allegedly assaulted Pavithra, 28, with a mobile phone and sickle, injuring her lips, left cheek and right arm in the parking lot of Raja Permaisuri Hospital. Bainun (HRPB) here between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. on July 21.

The charge, under Section 324 of the Penal Code read in conjunction with Section 326A of the Penal Code, carries a jail term of up to 10 years or a fine or flogging or with two of these penalties upon conviction.

Sugu was also accused of carrying a sickle around 6 p.m., at the same place and on the same date.

The offense, under Section 6 (1) of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act of 1958, provides for a prison sentence of up to 10 years if convicted.

In today’s proceedings, Sugu was represented by attorneys Jude Pereira and Syahrul Nizam Mohd Rabi.

Judge Mohd Fauzi Mohd Nasir set September 17 for the mention of cases. – Bernama
