SEREMBAN: A father, whose 11-year-old son was caught in a video clip driving a tanker in a courtyard in Rantau near here, has been in pretrial detention for two days.

It was learned that the 39-year-old man, who is a yard manager, was arrested by police after a 78-second clip showing a boy driving the vehicle went viral on Monday (September 7).

He will be sent to preventive detention until Wednesday (September 9).

In the clip, the boy, who is a Standard Five student at a vernacular school in Rantau, can be seen driving the vehicle and parking it in reverse, while a man, believed to be doing the recording, says it was amazing. that someone her age could do it.

A police team from the Kuala Sawah station ran into the courtyard after the video went viral.

Preliminary probes showed that the recording was made by an employee in the yard. Police are now looking for said individual.

On Monday (September 7), Seremban OCPD ACP Mohd Said Ibrahim said that the police would investigate the matter under Section 31 (1) of the Children’s Act 2001.

The provision, among others, states that anyone who neglects or exposes a child in a way that could cause physical or emotional injury can be fined up to RM20,000 or imprisoned for up to 10 years or both if convicted.
