Muar Syed Saddiq MP Syed Abdul Rahman and Segambut MP Hannah Yeoh are among the latest to speak out against the criticized Sabahan student Veveonah Mosibin.

PETALING JAYA: Several opposition MPs criticized Kudat MP Abdul Rahim Bakri for his now-deleted Facebook post accusing Sabahan student Veveonah Mosibin of faking an online university exam.

Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman and Segambut MP Hannah Yeoh criticized Rahim’s position as a form of intimidation, and Yeoh questioned the silence of the Minister of Women, Family and Community Development, Rina Harun, on the matter.

“If you don’t recognize it, it is actually cyberbullying in action. By two vice ministers. Against a little boy.

“Again, silence from the minister and her deputy,” he said today in a Twitter post.

Syed Saddiq also criticized Rahim for circumventing the main problem, which was the lack of internet connectivity in Sabah, and urged that Veveonah be left alone.

“Stop intimidating the youngsters. From wasting time and energy belittling Veveonah, it is better to focus on expanding the Internet network in Sabah.

“Don’t mess with the youngsters!” said the former Minister of Youth and Sports in a Twitter post.

Lembah Pantai MP Fahmi Fadzil also criticized Rahim on the matter, questioning why the Kudat MP did not take any initiative to meet with Veveonah instead of accusing her online.

Veveonah was recently shot to fame after posting a video on her YouTube channel three months ago about spending 24 hours in a tree in the jungle to get the best internet connection to take her exams online.

Last week, Vice Minister of Communications and Multimedia, Zahidi Zainul Abidin, had accused Veveonah of being a YouTuber and faking her online exam to get views for her video channel.

He later apologized to Vevenoah and said he had received “inaccurate information” on the matter.

However, Rahim, in a Facebook post last night, said that Veveonah lives in the city and that his family no longer had a house in the kampung where he claimed to have climbed a tree to sit for the exam.

He accused Veveonah of deliberately creating drama to seek attention and publicity.

Its post caused quite a stir among netizens, prompting Rahim to remove the post.
