WHO recognizes Malaysia’s health system

KUALA LUMPUR: The World Health Organization (WHO) has recognized that Malaysia has a strong health system with universal health coverage (UHC), said Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah.

He said that the WHO in a featured story yesterday recognized that the Malaysian healthcare system has a solid foundation to combat the Covid-19 pandemic with its past experience.

“The Malaysian Ministry of Health (MOH) appreciates the recognition of the WHO and will continue to be committed to strengthening the country’s health system to ensure the well-being of the people and the progress of the country,” he said in a statement on the development of Covid. -19 here today.

In this regard, Dr. Noor Hisham said that the WHO in a press conference the same day emphasized that a vaccine is effective in containing the spread of diseases such as smallpox, polio, etc.

“However, efficacy and safety are two important factors to consider when it comes to applying a vaccine.

“The issue should not be taken lightly, and therefore, to ensure that these factors are met, a vaccine must go through several tests and phases,” he said.

According to him, to this day, the WHO has not confirmed that Covid-19 vaccines are effective and safe. –Named
