PETALING JAYA: Operations of four water treatment plants in Selangor, which supply water to seven areas in the Klang Valley, are still suspended at 6.30am today, Air Selangor says.

This is because contamination is still detected near plants with a contamination reading of 1 threshold odor number (TON).

“Treatment plants can only operate when contamination reaches 0 TON,” said the company’s head of corporate communication, Elina Baseri.

He said water tankers will continue to be shipped to affected areas, and consumers are urged to collect water from public taps and local service areas that operate 24 hours a day until the water supply is fully restored.

“Air Selangor will provide updates on this unscheduled water outage from time to time,” he said.

Operations at the Rantau Panjang Water Treatment Plant (WTP) and phases 1, 2 and 3 (WTP SSP1, WTP SSP2 and WTP SSP3) were suspended yesterday morning after contamination was detected in the raw water.

A total of 1,292 locations in seven areas in the Klang Valley have experienced water supply disruptions since then, including Kuala Lumpur, Petaling, Klang / Shah Alam, Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Gombak and Kuala Langat.
