Arsenal launched a surprise investigation into Manchester United’s new kid Donny van de Beek before signing for the Red Devils. The Dutchman completed his £ 40 million move to Old Trafford yesterday in a deal that moved very quickly following an official offer on Sunday night.

Arsenal are simply not in a financial position to pay the £ 40 million quoted by Ajax or the £ 45 million release clause from Partey.
The Eredivisie champions had an agreement with their player that he could leave at the end of the season.
They were true to their word and were willing to let him go once they received a suitable offer.
Van de Beek would have pleased his father-in-law Dennis Bergkamp had he secured a transfer to the Emirates Stadium.
The former Gunners forward has congratulated Van de Beek as he prepares to follow in his footsteps after moving to the Premier League.

“My father-in-law Dennis Bergkamp obviously played for another club, but he is a legend in England and knows exactly how things are going in the Premier League,” Van de Beek told De Telegraaf.
“He keeps telling me that it’s incredibly fun and also very difficult to play there. I’m going to prepare for that.”
Van de Beek will wear the number 34 jersey at United as a moving tribute to his former Ajax teammate Abdelhak Nouri.
Nouri, also a close friend of Van de Beek, is now finally home after sustaining brain damage following a heart attack on the field in 2017.
Van de Beek could make his United debut when he begins his Premier League campaign against Crystal Palace on September 19.
