Another death from Covid-19, 14 new cases

PETALING JAYA: Another Covid-19 death was recorded today, the second death of the Tawar group. It is also the third day in a row that someone dies due to Covid-19.

In a statement, the Ministry of Health also announced today 14 new cases and the presence of a new group in Lahad Datu, Sabah.

Meanwhile, at a press conference this afternoon, Health Director-General Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said that 21 recoveries were recorded as of 12 p.m. today, bringing the total number of discharged to 9,075 people ( 97% of all cases).

Today’s 14 new cases bring the total number of cases registered in the country to 9,354, with a total of 151 active cases.

Of this number, five are being treated in the intensive care unit (ICU) and three require ventilation.

Today’s death brings the country’s death toll from Covid-19 to 128.

The latest death involves an 80-year-old Malaysian woman from the Tawar group who had a history of chronic illness.

“She started developing symptoms on August 6 and was held in a medical facility before being transferred to Pulau Pinang Hospital on August 14 after testing positive for Covid-19,” said Noor Hisham.

“His health deteriorated and he had been receiving respiratory assistance since August 24. He died today at 10:38 am.”
