PJ police arrest 48 men and one woman for drug offenses

PETALING JAYA: A total of 48 men and a woman were captured for various drug offenses after an integrated operation in the district.

Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said 22 of the detainees were turned over to the National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) for further action during the operation on Sunday night (August 30).

“We seized 11.33 g of syabu, 2.1 g of heroin and 31.8 liters of ketum water during the operation,” it said in a statement on Monday (Aug 31).

Meanwhile, Petaling Jaya CID arrested six men for various crimes, including burglary, gang robbery, and criminal intimidation.

Three foreigners were also arrested for crimes related to vice.

“Compounds that we issued to 69 people for violating the motion control recall (MCO) order,” said ACP Nik Ezanee.

On the traffic front, four men between the ages of 33 and 49 were arrested for driving while intoxicated, he added.

“His blood alcohol levels were above the allowed limit.

“Traffic operations were focused on Persiaran Kewajiban-Jalan Subang Airport, Jalan Semangat in Petaling Jaya and along the Federal Highway,” he said.

ACP Nik Ezanee said a total of 708 road users and 494 vehicles were inspected during the traffic operation.

“A total of 54 citations were issued for various traffic violations.

“We will continue to carry out these types of operations to stop traffic violations, especially driving under the influence of alcohol,” he added.

The operation, which took place between 9:00 p.m. on Sunday and 4:00 a.m. on Monday, involved 24 offices and 215 police officers along with 46 members of the AADK.
