Ismail Sabri: 219 compounds issued, 32 resubmitted for breaching the recovery MCO on August 30

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 219 people received compounds, another 32 were arrested and two others were released on police bail for violating the recovery movement control order (MCO).

Chief Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said that among the crimes committed on Sunday (August 30) were participating in activities in pubs and nightclubs, not wearing face masks, invading quarantine centers, failing to settle charges quarantine and activities that hindered physical distancing.

“The Compliance Operations Task Force conducted 64,929 inspections at various locations nationwide, including 4,805 restaurants, 1,052 factories, 3,631 banks, and 649 government buildings.

“A total of 17,765 people were involved in the operation,” it said in a statement on Monday (August 31).

Police also conducted 63 road checks across the country on Sunday, part of Ops Benteng, he added.

“A total of 27,197 vehicles were inspected.

“Our main objective is to stop the entry of illegal immigrants into the country,” he said.

Ismail Sabri also wished all Malaysians a happy national day.

“Although this year’s celebration is being conducted moderately in the new normal due to the threat of Covid-19, we are all free to express our love for the nation.

“In the excitement of celebrating this historic day, we must never forget that the threat of Covid-19 has not passed.

“Follow all relevant standard operating procedures (SOPs) and practice the new normal in all daily routines,” Ismail Sabri advised.
