‘As a minister, Zuraida should at least take some responsibility’

[ad_1]

YOUR OPINION | “Saying I don’t know, I didn’t do anything, it’s all Lim, it makes you look bad for two reasons.”

Zuraida says that Guan Eng is responsible for direct awards under his ministry

BusinessFirst: “It is at this meeting that (then finance minister) Lim (Guan Eng) not only discussed the renegotiation of this project, but agreed to reduce the cost of the tip fee by 10 percent less than the original cost, supposedly to save money. for the goverment. “said the Minister of Housing and Local Government, Zuraida Kamaruddin.

According to Zuraida, Lim advised Bumi Segar to approach his ministry to present a formal proposal.

“Subsequently, the project was approved by the Lim Finance Ministry through (a) letter of February 20, 2019 from the Finance Ministry to the Secretary General for Housing and Local Government,” he added.

However, Zuraida, your statement shows that you have trouble with logical thinking. First, confirm that a contract already existed before Lim joined.

Second, by their admission, Lim discussed with them a reduction in fees to save money. If there was a reduction in rates, then why is it “intended” to save money for the government?

If the government is charged less, of course, you are saving money for the government. Obviously, it is not “intended”.

Third, they presented a final proposal to the ministry. Here’s the problem, do you agree? Did you have a problem as a minister with that? It’s not like Lim does everything behind your back. Did you say “hey, we can save a little more money … this is how”?

Obviously, he was satisfied with the deal. If you were satisfied with the deal, and it is your ministry, you own this. If you have no comment, of course the Ministry of Finance will approve it and allow it to proceed.

This is part of the RM790 million savings that Pakatan Harapan performed in legacy BN projects.

By way of analogy, he agreed to buy a house for RM2 million. The agent helps you negotiate a 10 percent discount. He was presented with a new deal for RM1.8 million, saving RM200,000.

You mean to tell me you didn’t sign the deal when it was introduced to you? You were silent. Come on, we weren’t born yesterday.

If no one signs, how can then? “Subsequently, the project was approved by the Ministry of Finance under Lim by (a) letter dated February 20, 2019, from the Ministry of Finance to the Secretary General for Housing and Local Government.”

Obviously, your ministry sent the finalized agreement to the Ministry of Finance for signature.

Look, I don’t think anyone is claiming “dishonesty” in this deal per se. But YB (yang berhormat) as “menteri”, with respect, you fall very short.

The then finance minister negotiated a discount for you. Then after that, the entire deal was sent to you for review. Are you so lazy and irresponsible that you were not interested in him when the deal was presented to you?

If you accepted that Lim had helped you save money, why not be kind enough to say, “Yes, I saw the deal and approved because it was a good deal.”

Saying I don’t know, I didn’t do anything, it’s all Lim, it really makes you look bad for two reasons. First, the ingratitude of not acknowledging the good that others have done for you.

Second, his commitment and competence as a minister. Because if you were not interested in a 170 million ringgit deal, then what interests you? How to ignore this mega-deal with his narrative that he jumped ship to “save Malaysia”?

Personally, if he doesn’t resign, I think he shouldn’t run for re-election. He is objectively unsuited to being a minister as he doesn’t seem to have the right priorities. I put aside the questions of morality and honesty for a later time and forum.

DalvinK: Zuraida, some crucial points that you failed to explain:

1) Did the Ministry of Finance initiate the request to directly award the project? And because?

2) Are you saying that the Ministry of Finance randomly chose a project for the Ministry of Housing and Local Government and subsequently awarded the project directly to Bumi Segar Indah Sdn Bhd? Why didn’t you stop it, since your department should be in charge of the project?

3) He was at the press conference at the Beringin Park Project Site, Jinjang, Kepong in December 2019. But he stated that he did not know that the project was approved. What were you doing there?

For me, the Ministry of Finance can, of course, participate in the negotiation of the project cost because it involves financing. But starting the project for another department and requesting that that project have a direct tender, I don’t think the Ministry of Finance should be doing that.

If they had done it without your knowledge, I can still claim that you were sleeping at your job.

Sayonara MI: First, Zuraida said that he has no knowledge of direct negotiation, and now suddenly he can explain every step of the deal, including the name of the company that he went to see the finance minister, the 10 percent reduction in charges for tips negotiated by Finance. minister, and that the finance minister was asking the company to send him a formal proposal.

Suddenly it all came back to her so clearly after the evidence showing her at the solid waste disposal station (of which she denied being aware of) was circulated to the public.

One: One by one, the Ministers of Perikatan Nasional (PN) are making a fool of themselves. Instead of working for the rakyat, they now expose the fact that they don’t know what is going on in their ministries.

Perhaps they are too busy planning their treacherous moves?

Doc: Was Zuraida pleading with the same infamous former Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak for the “I was stupid and ignorant” defense because of what was happening in my own ministry?

Or was it the defense of “when you get caught red-handed doing something wrong, blame Lim Guan Eng and DAP.”
