PETALING JAYA: A student is believed to have died from a fall while taking in the scenery at a waterfall near Kuala Kubu Baru.

Hulu Selangor OCPD Supt Arsad Kamaruddin said police received a call about the accident around 10 a.m. on Saturday (August 29).

“The caller reported that a man had disappeared while swimming in the waterfall,” he said.

Initial investigations revealed that the victim, known as Abdullah Ammar Mohd Sharimshah, 22, had gone to the Lata Medang waterfalls with two friends at 5 in the morning.

Superintendent Arsad said investigators believed the deceased may have slipped and fallen while contemplating the view and was then swept away by currents.

His remains were recovered by the Fire and Rescue Department and flown to Taman Millennium before being sent to Kuala Kubu Baru Hospital, where an autopsy revealed that Abdullah Ammar died of a traumatic brain injury.

Police are now looking for witnesses to the incident and those with information can call the Kuala Kubu Baru Police Station on 03-6064 1222.

The case has been classified as sudden death.
