Talk about PN release fades with no show

The Perikatan Nasional logo was unveiled internally among Sabah PPBM members earlier today.

KOTA KINABALU: Talk about a supposed official launch of the Perikatan Nasional logo in Sabah faded today after the coalition symbol was revealed only among the Sabah PPBM hierarchy.

There has been talk that PN leader Muhyiddin Yassin, who is on an official visit as prime minister to Sabah, would officially launch the coalition and its logo at a dinner tonight.

However, that did not happen.

Muhyiddin attended four events in the state capital today, including a closed-door meeting at the Sabah PPBM headquarters, where the logo was said to have been unveiled, but only internally among the Sabah PPBM hierarchy.

His other events involved addressing federal officials, Rela members, and a dinner with the PN and allied leaders tonight.

SAPP president Yong Teck Lee said there were no plans for a launch ceremony before. “No, I was never informed of such a logo launch,” he told reporters after dinner.

SAPP is a component of PN.

He said: “There was an earlier conversation that there could be discussions about non-PN parties to use the PN logo this afternoon (but it did not take place).”

Earlier this week, a Singaporean news report said Muhyiddin would officially launch PN in Sabah in time for state elections to be held next month.

Yong said discussions between the parties of the PN component in Sabah (PPBM, STAR and SAPP) on preparations for the elections, including the use of a common logo, have already started.

“We only have two weeks left (for the state elections). I hope the discussion between the PN Plus parties will accelerate. And just now I had mentioned to other leaders… we will meet more regularly on all the preparations for the elections, first things first, the use of a common logo, ”he said.

Sabah Barisan Nasional and Parti Bersatu Sabah, both PN partners in the state, said they will use their own logo for the elections.
