IPOH: Barisan Nasional won all 13 District Electoral Colleges (PDM) in Slim’s by-elections, says Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
The president of Umno said that unofficial results showed that they recovered the six PDMs they lost here during GE14.
“It is all thanks to the support and hard work of those involved. This shows that the voters have missed us,” he told reporters at the Barisan by-elections command center in Tanjung Malim on Friday (Aug 29). .
“This (result) will be better interpreted if the Sabah or GE15 state elections are held. We continue to regain the support of the people,” he said.
The official results show that the Zaidi of Barisan won the by-elections.
At 8.40 pm, with 46 of the 56 polls counted, Zaidi obtained 10,468 votes and leads with a majority of 8,665 votes.
Independent candidates Amir Khusyairi Mohamad Tanusi and Dr. S. Santharasekaran surveyed 1,803 and 263 respectively.
Zahid reminded Zaidi to fulfill his duties well as a new member of the state assembly.
“You need to provide your best services to the people like the late Datuk Mohd Khusairi Abdul Talib did,” he said.
