The Ministry of Communications analyzes a proposal to help the media industry

KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): The Ministry of Communications and Multimedia is studying a proposal for commercial and legal assistance to help the media industry affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

His minister, Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah, said he has taken note of some of the suggestions put forward, such as buying advertising space, forcing tech giants like Google and Facebook to pay for the media and news content, as well as reviewing the tax regime.

“Those are some of the suggestions made by prominent journalists and actors in the media industry: we will discuss the matter and see to what extent we can help,” he told reporters during his visit to the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama). at Wisma Bernama on Friday (May 15).
