4 men demand trial for trespassing of a Gombak welfare house

SELAYANG: Four men claimed the trial in Magistrates Court here today for trespassing on a welfare home in Taman Bidara here last week.

R Ramah Krishnan, John Banner Robert, S Kamalanathan and Raymond Raj Ebenezer were jointly accused, along with three others overall, of committing an illegal crime at Sweet Care Home in the early hours of May 5.

The house in question belongs to K Thanam, who is the plaintiff.

Robert was also accused of threatening a 25-year-old woman in the home, saying he would hurt her if he spoke too much.

If found guilty of trespassing under Section 447 of the Penal Code, the four men will face a maximum penalty of six months, a fine of RM3,000, or both.

Meanwhile, the maximum penalty for criminal intimidation is two years in prison, a fine, or both.

Magistrate Nur Hafizah Rajuni granted the men bail of RM1,000 with a guarantee. Robert was told to pay another RM2,000 with a guarantee for his second count of criminal intimidation.

The raid case will be mentioned on July 9, while the criminal intimidation case will be mentioned on July 2.

The four men were represented by lawyer Dinesh Muttal, while Deputy Prosecutor Khairunnisak Hassni prosecuted.

Dinesh later told reporters that his clients had gone to the house to verify claims received via WhatsApp that the children there were being mistreated and sodomized.

He said the owner filed a report against them that day, after which they were arrested.
