“Jawi has informed me that Friday prayers and congregational prayers in mosques, surau Fridays and selected surau in these green areas will only involve the president, committee members, officials and staff.

“The congregation will be determined by the committee of the mosque or surau and will only be by invitation,” he said today in a statement on his Facebook account.

He said Jawi will provide the list of mosques, Friday surau and selected surau in the green areas, while guidelines for implementation can be found on Jawi’s Facebook account.

He added that he was happy to see mosques, Friday surau and selected surau in green areas in the Federal Territories ready to receive the congregation for prayers today.

Meanwhile, the director general of the Department of Islamic Development of Malaysia (Jakim) Datuk Paimuzi Yahya said that, in the case of mosques under Jakim, only the National Mosque located in the green zone will have prayers on Fridays, congregational prayers, Tarawih prayers and Aidilfitri prayers. from today

He said two other mosques under Jakim, namely Masjid Putra and Masjid Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin in Putrajaya are still in the yellow zone.

“Congregational prayers are limited to no less than three people and no more than 30, comprising mosque officials and staff, as well as others who are determined by the administration of the mosque,” it said in a statement.

He advised the public to refer to the administration of the mosque and said that they are not allowed to perform congregational prayers or other activities without permission.

“This is to avoid congregations that are outside the control of the mosque that can affect social distancing. Pray that the country is liberated from Covid-19 and that the activities of the mosque can resume as before, “he said.
