ALOR GAJAH: A nine-year-old girl has been left orphaned after her mother, a single parent, was killed in a three-vehicle crash at Jalan Kemuning in Pulau Sebang here.

Alor Gajah OCPD Superintendent Arshad Abu said the child, Yasmin Iszara Baski, was seriously injured in the 1.30pm accident on Tuesday (May 12) and is being treated at Melaka Hospital.

It’s learnt that Yasmin is unaware that her mother had died and the victim’s relatives at Hutan Percha here have been informed.

Supt Arshad said the child’s mother, Rozila Mamat, 49, had succumbed to severe injuries on the spot while another passenger Suraya Suradi, 53, sustained minor injuries. Both were neighbors.

He said the accident happened when an express bus with two passengers had lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a sharp corner at the stretch before ramming into Rozila’s car.

Supt Arshad said a 68-year-old driver of another car, also rammed into Rozila’s vehicle from behind.

“The driver of the other car also sustained injuries to his forehead,” he said.

Supt Arshad said two passengers of the bus, who were on their way to Tampin in Negri Sembilan, were also injured.

I added the accident is being probed under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
