KOTA KINABALU: A mentally unstable man in his 30s died after falling from the fourth floor of a apartment unit in Telipok Ria at 7 am on Tuesday (May 12).

The Filipino man was said to have been telling his relatives that he could no longer bear the voices in his head as they were loud and they always wanted to talk to him, Tuaran MP OCPD Supt Mohd Hamizi Halim said.

It was also learned that the victim was recently released from Mesra Bukit Padang Hospital, where he was receiving treatment for his mental health, he added.

The victim was released from the hospital on April 23, but has since refused to take the prescribed medications.

“This case has been classified as a sudden death, pending post mortem results,” he said.

In an unrelated incident, an undocumented man was caught for allegedly stealing items from a furniture store near his home in Kg Tobur in Menggatal on Sunday (May 10).

Kota Kinabalu OCPD Communications Assistant Habibi Majinji said the 50-year-old man was caught around 5.20 p.m., not long after the alleged robbery.

“The stolen items were kept in a corner of her home when the police raided her,” he said.

He said items such as an aluminum and wood cutting machine, a fan, a drill, and compressors were recovered from the suspect’s home.
