KUALA LUMPUR: Almost two months have passed since the Malays are “confined” to their homes, spending time with their relatives, but not everyone can enjoy this moment with some separated from their spouses, children, grandchildren and relatives with the application of the law. Motion Control Order (MCO), followed by the Conditional Motion Control Order (CMCO).
Many now yearn for and miss their loved ones, having been separated for so long, except to communicate via phone calls and via the WhatsApp app.
As the saying goes, “Blood is thicker than water”, family ties will always be strong, even during difficult times having to part due to the fight against Covid-19.
In any case, the public has to follow the advice of the general director of Health, Datuk Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah, not only practicing social distancing, but also without shaking hands or kissing, as is the normal practice during the celebration of Aidilfitri .
“If social distancing cannot be practiced, we had better make fewer visits,” he said yesterday at a press conference in Putrajaya.
With Aidilfitri to be held this May 24 in a “new normal” atmosphere, he advised the public to adhere to the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) during the festival, including limiting the number of visitors at one time.
The government is also against children being taken to public places such as shopping malls, Prime Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said yesterday at his daily press conference at CMCO.
According to him, the government is considering inserting actions against those who take children to public places during the application of the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) in the Infectious Disease Control and Prevention Act of 1988 or Law 342.
Today is the 56th day of the MCO and the ninth day of the CMCO. The number of new daily positive Covid-19 cases in Malaysia remains in double digits with 70 cases yesterday, bringing the total number to 6,726 cases, as of noon yesterday.
Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announced on Sunday that the CMCO will run for another four weeks until June 9, which also means that the interstate movement to “balik kampung” for the Hari Raya celebration is not allowed. – Bernama
