Martin Tyler comments on Gareth Southgate after Liverpool’s first goal against Arsenal

Martin Tyler sent a message to England manager Gareth Southgate during Liverpool’s 3-0 win over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

Two goals from Diogo Jota, with a goal from Mohamed Salah in the middle, sealed the three points for the Reds, who dominated the Gunners in North London.

The victory of the Premier League champions brings them to fifth place and just two points behind Chelsea, who fell 5-2 at home to West Bromwich Albion on Saturday afternoon.

Jota, who was a second-half substitute for Jurgen Klopp’s side, was the man who made the difference for Liverpool, but had a great help from Trent Alexander-Arnold for his first goal.

The right-back picked up the ball on the wing and produced a typical Alexander-Arnold cross, which landed on a plate for Jota, who headed Bernd Leno.

The Reds defender showed what he is capable of moving forward and was a timely reminder for Southgate, who recently left him out of the England team for their World Cup qualifiers against San Marino, Albania and Poland.

The decision of the Three Lions boss surprised a lot of people and it is unclear if Alexander-Arnold will be included in the team for this summer’s Euros.

After the first goal of the game, Sky Sports commentator Tyler messaged Southgate, following the perfect delivery from Alexander-Arnold.

“He’s a wonderful center and he’s produced a header that has hurt Arsenal again,” Tyler said.

“Look, Gareth Southgate, it was a wonderful delivery, the header was very good but it was a real opportunity caused by the trajectory of Liverpool’s right-back center.”

It was the right-back’s fourth assist of the Premier League season, when Liverpool dismantled Arsenal in the capital.
