PETALING JAYA: After postponing her nuptials three times due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Malaysian-born, UK-based surgeon Amalina Che Bakri finally married her English boyfriend.

Dr Amalina and Alexander Charles, both 33, were married in a solemnization ceremony at London’s Central Mosque on Wednesday.

In an Instagram post on Friday evening, Dr Amalina, a Surgeon General and PhD Clinical Research Fellow at Imperial College London, expressed her gratitude for being able to host a small wedding ceremony.

“Alhamdulillah (praise God), the solemnization (nikah) takes place at the Central Mosque in London on March 31, 2021.

“Despite having to postpone our nikah 3 times due to closure, we are relieved that we managed to get our simple ceremony to attend some close family and friends (only six guests, according to local Covid rules),” wrote the Dr. Amalina on the post, which has garnered more than 180,000 likes.

“We hope to celebrate our big day with our loved ones and friends soon,” he added.

The post was accompanied by a photo of her looking resplendent in a white wedding dress, designed by Malaysian designer Cosry, as she held hands with her beaming groom.
