Industry and International Trade Minister Azmin Ali said the foreign company would locate its first overseas plant in Malaysia.

SHAH ALAM: Malaysia will once again become a high-tech investment destination, as it will soon receive investment from a foreign company for the production of luxury cars.

Industry and International Trade Minister Azmin Ali said he could not reveal the name of the company, but could reveal that the company had agreed to open its first overseas plant in Malaysia.

“This is precision engineering, which means that one of the most expensive automakers in the world will be in Malaysia,” he said during a question and answer session at Selangor’s state-level Rapat Malaysia Prihatin program here today.

He said there are Asean countries with large populations that could attract labor-intensive investments.

“But Malaysia cannot offer that, so we must ensure that our human capital has high-quality technology skills to move forward,” he added.
