Maybank becomes party to forfeiture lawsuit against Azeez’s family

KUALA LUMPUR: A bank has become a third party to claim a parcel belonging to Azeera Management Consultants (M) Sdn Bhd in connection with the government’s lawsuit to seize the property in Bandar Sunway.

The government is seeking the loss of nearly RM16 million of accounts belonging to the wife of former Tabung Haji president, Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim, their four children and a company-owned parcel.

Deputy Prosecutor (DPP) Nik Haslinie Hashim informed the court that the third party, namely Maybank Islamic Bhd, represented by Poh Choo Hoe, had appeared in court today.

“I ask the court to record that there is a claimant on this application.

“The plaintiff (Maybank) today claimed a property, which is the sixth item on the list published by the government (a business plot),” Nik Haslinie told High Court Judge Muhammad Jamil Hussin.

Then, Jamil set June 29 to listen to the government’s request to lose the money and set up a store.

“The parties must submit an affidavit if necessary and include written submissions one week before the hearing date (June 29),” he said.

The procedure to register third party notification was also attended by lawyer Marina Mohamed, who represented the defendants, namely Azeez’s wife, Khadijah Mohd Noor, their four children: Mohamed Khairul Anwar, Mohamed Khairul Azman, Khaleeda Azwa, Khaleeda Azeera , and Azeera Management Consultants. .

The forfeiture lawsuit was filed by the government against members of Azeez’s family in September 2019.
