PUTRAJAYA: Devotees have been warned not to ignore the standard operating procedures (SOPs) implemented in Chinese cemeteries and columbariums during the Cheng Beng or Qing Ming festival to be held on April 4.

The Ministry of National Unity said today in a statement that compounds will be imposed on those who violate the SOP established to curb the Covid-19 outbreak.

However, compounds will not be delivered to the administration of the cemeteries and columbariums where the violations occurred, he added.

The ministry reminded the administration of Chinese cemeteries and columbariums across the country that they must operate in accordance with the SOP to allow the Chinese community to carry out the ritual this year.
