KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): The management of condominiums or residential areas has no authority to impose fines or enclosures on residents who violate standard operating procedures (SOPs).

This followed a viral social media post about a one-year-old boy who was fined RM100 for managing a condo in Ampang for not wearing a face mask while in the elevator.

Chief Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said that only the Ministry of Health (MOH) had the power to issue the compound through the police subject to the Infectious Disease Prevention and Control Act.

“So far we have not given the condominium and apartment management authority or any office to take action. Management authority is limited solely to the maintenance and management of the property.

“So what the management did at the Ampang condo is wrong and cannot be done. So I hope they remove the RM100 complex,” he told a press conference on the development of the Motion Control Order (MCO) here. on Thursday (February 25).

He also said that the government had not held talks about issuing vaccine passports (to the people who will receive the vaccines) or opening the country’s borders that would allow people to travel abroad again.

“There is no date set for that yet, the government is still seeking comments from the World Health Organization (WHO) on the vaccine passport.”

“This is because the government does not know what vaccines are acceptable in foreign countries to allow the entry of people from this country to their country. So this matter is still too early to talk,” he said.

He said the matter would be announced later by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation and the Ministry of Health. – Bernama
