Disabled man crashes his car into a restaurant, kills a cook and injures another

IPOH: One cook was killed and another injured when a car driven by a 54-year-old disabled man crashed his car into a restaurant in Jalan Batu Sinar, Kampar, while the victims were cooking at a height of five feet this morning.

Kampar District Police Chief Hasron Nazri Hashim said the fatal victim in the 9.40am incident was Wong Kwai Yung, 59, while his injured colleague was Sek Loow See, 50.

“The initial investigation found that the disabled person was trying to park his car in front of the restaurant to buy food when he accidentally stepped on the gas, and the car hit the two workers who were cooking at the stand located in front of the restaurant,” he said today in a statement.

Wong died at the scene of serious head injuries, while Sek was slightly injured in the shoulder and legs. There were some customers eating in the restaurant when the accident occurred.

Hasron said neither the driver nor his 42-year-old passenger were injured in the accident.

He added that the victim’s body was sent to the Kampar Hospital while the wounded cook is also being treated at the same hospital.
