PUTRAJAYA: People who will receive injections of the Covid-19 vaccine must go through five stations at a Vaccine Dispensing Center (PPV), which takes between 15 and 30 minutes, including checking for side effects.

Minister of Health Datuk Seri Dr. Adham Baba (pix) said that the recipient must go through five stations; The first stop is to examine symptoms and body temperature. the second station is for registration; the third consultation station and immunization agreement; the fourth station is for the actual Covid-19 vaccine injection; and the fifth station is for observation.

“From the evaluation of the temperature to the taking of the injection it takes between 10 and 15 minutes. Even though the observation period is 15 minutes, we need to provide sufficient time for monitoring, ”he said in a press release after conducting a simulation exercise for the National Covid-19 Immunization Program here today.

Also present was the Coordinating Minister of the National Covid-19 Immunization Program, Khairy Jamaluddin, who is also the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation.

The National Covid-19 Immunization Program will be implemented in three phases from February 24 with the first phase from February to April 2021 for frontline workers involving 500,000 people.

Phase 2, from April to August, will see the immunization of high-risk groups, that is, the elderly and vulnerable groups aged 65 and over, while the third phase includes adults aged 18 and over. They will receive the vaccine between May of this year and February. next year, targeting more than 13.7 million people.

It was previously reported that Khairy said Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Health Director General Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah, would be the first to receive injections of the vaccine on Wednesday, marking the start of the National Program for Immunization against Covid-19, which is starting before the scheduled date of February 26.

Dr. Adham said that the Ministry of Health (MINSA) is prepared for the first phase of the program that involves 572,588 front-line personnel registered as of February 21.

According to him, 532 PPVs have been identified across the country for the largest immunization program in the country.

He added that the PPVs have been categorized from one to eight depending on the number of personnel and the area of ​​the place with a category one PPV attended by 10 members of the Ministry of Health staff and 10 members of the non-Ministry of Health .

In another development, Dr. Adham said that pregnant women and nursing mothers would not receive the injection according to a resolution of the Special Committee on Guarantee of Access to the Supply of Covid-19 Vaccines (JKJAV).

“So far, JKJAV maintains that that group should not receive the vaccine,” he said.
