NIBONG TEBAL: The body of a man believed to be a foreigner was found in a blue drum at an oil palm plantation in Tiga Kongsi, Simpang Ampat, today.

Seberang Perai Selatan Police Chief Lee Chong Chern said the plantation owner filed a report this morning about the shocking find in a 150-liter drum.

“He said he was alerted by his employee that he noticed a stench emanating from a drum with a corpse inside.

“The police inspection found no identification on the body of the man in his 40s who was believed to be a foreign citizen and who had died about a month ago when the body had shrunk.”

He said that the initial examination of the outside of the body dressed in shorts and a T-shirt found that there were no signs of injuries and the police did not find criminal elements in their search of the area.

“So far we have not received any police report of missing persons and I urge the public who has a missing family member, employee or friend to come forward to identify the body,” he said.

He said the body was sent to Seberang Jaya Hospital for an autopsy and that the police classified it as sudden death, but would change it to murder if the autopsy results found criminal elements in the victim’s death.
