PETALING JAYA: Private hospitals across the country say they are ready to work with the government on vaccinating the public to accelerate the National Covid-19 Vaccination Program.

The president of the Association of Private Hospitals Malaysia (APHM), Dr. Kuljit Singh, said that the group was waiting to discuss the mechanism of the program as “many would be happy to be vaccinated in private hospitals.”

“It is a service that we can provide to the public. However, we are awaiting further instructions, “he said in a statement.

Kuljit said APHM appreciated Putrajaya’s decision to vaccinate healthcare workers in private hospitals simultaneously with government workers, adding that it would work closely with the government to ensure that all healthcare sector leaders are covered. .

He also urged all citizens who were eligible to receive the vaccine to register for the jab.

Earlier, Khairy Jamaluddin, the coordinating minister for the immunization program, had announced that vaccine registration would begin next month, with five ways for the public to sign up.

The science, technology and innovation minister said the registry will facilitate appointment setting for the thousands of people who will be vaccinated each day.

According to Health Minister Dr. Adham Baba, some 126,000 people would be vaccinated per day at 600 locations across the country.

Seven officers will be present in each of the places to carry out the vaccines. Foreign nationals living in Malaysia, including undocumented foreigners, would also be vaccinated free of charge.
