KUALA LUMPUR, February 13: The registration process for COVID-19 vaccination is part of making an appointment, said Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Khairy Jamaluddin.
In response to a tweet today about the reason for the registration process presented by Twitter user Dr. Ungku Shahrin @ungshah, Khairy said that registered individuals would receive more details about their vaccination.
“They will then be given the stipulated date, time and place based on the information provided, for example where they live, which may not match their CI address,” he said.
In another Tweet, he explained that members of the public had to register for vaccination so their information could be entered into the appointment management system.
“Most countries distribute vaccines according to appointments. Asking people to simply show up will create huge queues or waste. The appointment management system will also help with the logistics of vaccines: how many to send where, ”he said.
Previously, Khairy, who is also the coordinating minister of the National COVID-19 Immunization Program, had announced that registration for COVID-19 vaccination for members of the public would begin next month, adding that there were five ways the public could register for the vaccine.
It could be done through the MySejahtera application, the JKJAV website (Special Committee for the Guarantee of Access to Covid-19 Vaccine Supplies) that would be launched next week, by calling the hotline, by manual registration in clinics and hospitals public and private, or through assisted registration for those who live in rural areas, he added.
