KUALA LUMPUR: The government should prioritize the implementation of a compensation system to help boost public confidence in the national Covid-19 immunization program, says Alliance for Safe Community President Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye (Photo).

He said the compensation system could take the form of a vaccination injury financial assistance program.

“Such a system will further enhance public confidence in the safety of the vaccine, which is a necessary step to appease those who have been influenced by negative reports on social media.

“It is also important to ensure transparency in drug procurement, which must also be evidence-based.

“And to ensure that maximum benefit is obtained from the immunization process, systems must be in place to ensure transparency and avoid waste,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Lee said that this is also where the National Agency for Pharmaceutical Regulation of the Ministry of Health has a crucial role to play, so it must be independent and free to make the best decisions for the country and the people.

Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has said that the government would begin implementing the National Covid-19 Immunization Program by the end of this month, with 80% of the country’s population, or approximately 26.5 million people, receiving the vaccine for free. of charge.
