KOTA BHARU: The Ministry of Federal Territories will oblige every employer to inform about the accommodation that it will provide to the foreign workers it will hire to obtain approval of the urbanization order.

The CLQ is an accommodation concept for companies from various sectors to provide accommodation with various facilities such as transportation for their foreign workers.

Annuar said his ministry had so far identified five locations for the CLQ in Kuala Lumpur, including near the Selayang Wholesale Market with an area size of 0.6 to 1.6 hectares, and in District 20, Putrajaya with a Area size of 10.1 hectares that could accommodate a total of 20,000 to 40,000 foreign workers.

He said the ministry will also improve coordination with local authorities and the Ministry of Human Resources to determine the number and presence of foreign workers at construction sites.

“The Ministry of Federal Territories issues the project approval license while the Ministry of Human Resources issues work permits but sometimes, there is no coordination because we do not know who will come to work since it is not the responsibility of the city Kuala Lumpur Lounge (DBKL).

“Then they (foreign workers) come and are placed on crowded construction sites and there is no longer any doubt about the spread of Covid-19 on construction sites,” he added.
