KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang has filed a request to overturn the original subpoena from two Sabahans regarding the alleged seditious comment by the PAS president against Christians that was published in a newspaper five years ago.

The lawsuit was filed yesterday by Abdul Hadi as a defendant through Yusfarizal Aziz and Zaid.

Lawyer Yusfarizal Yussoff, representing Abdul Hadi, said the court had set April 19 for the decision on the application.

“The court also ordered both parties to submit a written submission on March 11. If there is an additional oral presentation from both parties, it will also be heard on the same date (April 19), ”Judge Datuk Akhtar Tahir said after handling the case before the High Court through the Zoom app today.

Abdul Hadi’s request was also made on the basis that the lawsuit filed by Maklin Masiau and Lawrence Jomiji Kinsil @ Maximilhian as first and second plaintiffs, is vexatious, frivolous and an abuse of the judicial process.

The plaintiffs filed the lawsuit against Abdul Hadi on December 9, asking the court to find him guilty of violating Section 3 of the Sedition Act and a declaration that he is “unfit to hold any office in the Malaysian government, including that of a charge. ” equivalent to a ministerial position ”.

In their court file, the two people claimed that Abdul Hadi had made a seditious statement in the PAS Harakah newspaper against Christians and Christian missionaries on January 18, 2016. -Called
