KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) is poised to provide a special television education channel to assist the learning process at home during and after Covid-19, says Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah .

He said that RTM had the experience of having its own educational television service, ‘TV Pendidikan’ from 1972 to 2008 and the ministry expects this new channel to be ready by the first quarter of this year.

“During (the implementation) of the first motion control command, we gave classes at home in two sessions, two hours in the morning and two hours in the afternoon using the TV channel Okey (from RTM).

“Actually, RTM is ready and has done tests on the channel. It is too early to give it a name, but the preparations are for educational television,” he said.

Saifuddin told reporters this after a virtual press conference in conjunction with the closing of the First ASEAN Digital Ministers Meeting (ADGMIN1) here on Friday (January 22).

Saifuddin said his ministry would play the role of providing the platform, while the Ministry of Education would provide the content. – Bernama
